I remember those monster thunderstorms from my childhood in Pennsylvania. Of course we had no intenet then, and where we lived, out in the boonies, we were used to having the power go out. Our house was on top of a small hill, and we had lightening rods to protect the house They got hit twice, which was both terrifying and tremendously exciting. We used to stand out in the garage with the garage door open watching the lightening play all around and the rain come pouring down and run in rivers down the driveway.

We don't have those out here. Occasional heat lightening, sometimes a storm with three or four mild lightening strokes in a half hour, but no real storms. As an adult I'm glad, but for my kids sake I'm sorry they missed living through real thunderstorms.
