I don't think that Intel's perception of AMD's threat is "nothing", nor do I think it is "menacing". It's probably somewhere between these objective qualities, yet you make it sound like it's one or the other. Intel is a paranoid bunch, but they didn't get to where they are by scrambling at the smallest of risks. This risk happens to be larger than others, so I'm sure it's not being ignored. It's no wonder you have such little faith in Intel if you have such unrealistic expectations of them.
