My view is somewhat similar to yours, but not really yet.

I think we have only two logical options.

1. Marriage is a relationship between one man and one woman. Period.

2. Marriage is a relationship among any number of persons of any combination of genders.

The first makes logical sense because that is what it takes to produce children, which is the biological imperative of all species. I recognize all the arguments that some couples can't biologically have children, etc. But our primary imperative as a species is self-continuation, so recognizing in a unique way the union that makes this happen makes both logical and societal sense to me.

However, if we do decide to extend marriage beyond that, then IMO there is no logical or societal reason to set any limits at all.

I just haven't gotten to believe in level two yet.
