Don,

The economic domination by greens may be a perception since the Europeans destroyed the natural resources of the continent and for the last 80 years they have been trying to get things back to its natural order. They have not been able to get their arms around the rabbit problem, but most of the problems they have solved. <g> I suspect they are going to be very careful that this does not happen again. They also had a fire which destroyed a massive amount of the gum trees in Australia and they have been spending money to insure this gets back to normal. When these gum trees get started burning they can not stop it because the oil in the trees is like gasoline. But they do understand that this burning is a natural thing. My observation is they are doing smart things to try and get a natural environment that is friendly to human being as well as the natural balance of things. I did notice that they are similar to Europe in that they do not like the impotence of genetically grown products.

The labor party does not seem to have any more power than the market economy folks. I do agree that capital is not god in the country, but IMO this is a good thing. There are other things in life than are more important than money.

You may disagree with their policy that people that work have a right to a living wage. This policy IMO comes from Europe sending its underclass to Australia and since its population has its roots from the underclass, one would expect this policy to be normal. What I noticed is they do not have a crime problem as we have in the States. This policy could be the reason since people do not have to steal to be able to have the basic essentials in life. I am beginning to believe that crime is more expensive to a society than a policy of living wages for those who work.

Joan
