Mike it's apparent you do what you do for your own reasons. i do what I do for my own reasons. I do not think either one of us is going to change the other's trading patterns.

For your comparison on msft, I think you meant to use the dates of 1/18/01 and 1/19/01. there fore, here is a chart exapmlflying what you are taking about(I assume). I added a few days before and a bit after for this example

Now I don't know what the news was for that particular move(perhaps some court ruling I might guess?. however on a percentage basis, we're taking about 5% gap.

5% gap is nothing for CIEN. if earnings are received well and the CC goes better, than who knows there might be a 20% gap. In fact to demonstrate this in action, reference CIEN earnings from Feb 15 th of this year where it dod gap up 20%.

I started the charts four days before their respective pops and ran them for a month.

Now, I'm not saying that we will get a repeat performance this Q with cien- we haven't the last couple Qs; I am just pointing out there are two sides to every coin. There is always an opportunity in every situation.

If you have read my posts here you should know I have traded in and out of this with some very "lucky " timing

Am I a trader? of course I am. I position trade and day trade. I have no doubts I will do the right thing when the time is right with regards to CIEN.
