Anyone willing to objectively analyze the social security dilemma we are facing as a nation due to so many baby boomers entering retirement, will say the system is going broke.

We are going to have to do one of the following in order to make the system sound long-term:

1. Increase taxes to pay for the system at it stands.
2. Dramatically decrease benefits.
3. Increase age eligibility.
4. Privatize the system and allow people to opt-out.
4. Or a combination of them all.

Not dealing with the issue isn't leadership. Pretending we don't see the Demographic trends ahead of us isn't leadership. And cow-towing to special interest groups isn't leadership.

Dealing directly with the issue and having the courage to come up with a long term strategic change in direction is.

If we never had a social security system before and we wanted to start one today. How many Democrats would be arguing for a government controlled one, vs. one aligned to private account ownership?
