Terry, Tecumseh was a hero and a Shawnee patriot, though also a bit of a nutburger. Sort of a Napoleonic character at exactly the right time in history for that sort of thing.

Down here we think that Jean Lafitte (sp) was also a hero in that war. No matter how much pirating and general anti-social behavior he committed the rest of his life, his help at The Battle of New Orleans was critical. However, a purist might argue that since the war was legally over by the time Ol' Hickory took his trip down the mighty Missisip, he was just another Frog who liked hassling Limeys. <g>
