Chris, I read about your San Antonio experience when you returned. I laughed about the excessive air conditioning. We over cool to survive... it takes a long time to cool down from 101 degrees. LOL!

There would be no reason to feed the deer in your Garden of Eden. It does sound like it would be a major endeavor for you to have a vegetable garden! I agree that homegrown tomatoes are no comparison to bought tomatoes. That was what I was working on this afternoon... planting tomatoes in containers on my patio. My old plants had succumbed to the raccoons. This time I was covering them with some netting that the garden center promised would save them. I'll believe it when I see it!

I read that you hope to retire within a year... I hope you can. I took early retirement on February 1st of this year. With the exception of some ongoing health problems, it has been wonderful. I never realized how much stress I had before my retirement until I began to truly RELAX. It took a while to realize I didn't have to get up at a certain time. Why, now I only have to gas up my car once a month! No more fighting the freeways. I have finally taken time to read books again without feeling I was stealing the time. My office windows look out on the wildlife preserve in the canyon. I actually take the time to look at the birds... I hadn't done that before.

I have a cyber friend in Vancouver who has sent me pictures of the incredible Northwest. I believe it is the most beautiful country in the world. I wish I would have had the nerve to do what you did.
