Hong Kong handover to go live on Internet

HONG KONG, June 19 (Reuter) - Britain's handover of Hong
Kong to China on June 30 is to go live on the Internet with 48
hours of video footage to mark the historic occasion.

Organisers hope the coverage could spark more traffic on the
information superhighway than the popular chess clash between
world champion Garry Kasparov and the ``Deep Blue'' computer.

The service, covering the official handover ceremonies and
giant fireworks display, is being run by the state-funded
broadcasting network and Hong Kong's Chinese University.

It can be accessed on rthk.org.hk.
