I think...

Hi Essam,

No, didn't really think you meant "give" in the strictest sense of the word... (-:

However, I think shorters DO have to pay quite a bit of the price at least... I read some posts by shorters who seemed pretty annoyed at the fact that they have to put a lot of money up front (what percentage... I don't know)... Also, they were crabbing about how they take all the risk and don't get any money for the $$$ the house has, while they wait for their stock to drop in price. (Aw... poor guys... imagine having to have your money ALL TIED UP in something while you are waiting for your stock to move... can't imagine what that must feel like, eh???). Also, they were discussing a couple of brokerage houses that DO give some small amount of interest on the money... If I have time, I will try to find some of those posts today and put a link on this thread.

Hi Yuri... just read your post...makes mine sound sort of dumb... you must have posted at the same time as me...
Anyhow, I think you are right. A friend started seriously checking into shorting and was informed by his broker that you needed some pretty big bucks in your account before they would even handle the trades for you....
