Wetlands are more than just important, they are the cradle of life. For the Bush Administration to allow developers to attack them is the height of cynicism and ignorance about the planet. But in flat arid Texas where I guess they still have the notion that the only use for wild birds is to shoot them. One more black mark amongst many-many on the Bush record which will come back to haunt him. But I guess the developers gave them lots of soft money so this is Buch-Cheney style democracy at work. He who pays soft money gets to ruin his share of some publicly-owned natural resources or wildlands. Everyone else gets screwed. What a bunch of thieves and corrupt backroom fat cats. Campaign finance reform, people. That's at the root of this.
