| Of course the connection still exists. Bush founded the company. It was also reportedly a CIA-linked company going back all the way to the Bay Of Pigs days. These days though the Bushes are much more in with the biggest oil-energy companies like Chevron, Enron, Duke, Williams, Reliant, James Baker's growing empire and of course Halliburton. This is their inner circle, the new FOB, (Friends of Bush). With the unprecedented takeover of the White House by the sector it's more accurate to see them all as one and the same. They don't compete so much as collude these days with Bush-Cheney as their chief lobbyists. And unlike rare exception Shell Oil which is Dutch-owned and therefore has a real conscience, they could give a rat's a*s about the environment or cleaner fuels; fish, wetlands, ocean, air, water, wilderness, you name it. The environment they see as their enemy. They lust to seize it and pollute it. To do this they must dominate politically, deflect criticism and investigations, cover-up crimes, pay huge amounts of soft money to Bush allies. Democrats, moderate Republicans, Kyoto, the EU and public opinion are also their enemies. They want deregulation to pollute, gouge and drill freely. Expect massive PR and propaganda campaigns waged by the energy cartel over the next 3 years (which have already begun big-time), using some of their windfall profits to try and get away with their gougings and corruption, keep their cronies in power and complete the deception. They also want to make sure no one supports any kind of clean alternative fuels. My prediction is that they will ultimately fail, however they will do a lot of damage in the meantime to our system of government, national spirit, alliances and of course the global environment. Write your congressman because this is a battle which puts democracy itself at risk. Bush is also trying to give these same thieves 33 billion of our money in tax breaks. Don't let him and next year vote the bums out, anyone who supported the so-called Bush Energy Plan which should more accurately be called "The Bush Assault On The Global Environment and Energy Gouging Program". |
