PCCW Touts Content For Hong Kong Broadband Service


HONG KONG, CHINA, Aug 09, 2001 (Newsbytes via COMTEX) -- Hong Kong-based
Pacific Century CyberWorks (PCCW) has released details of the content that will
feature on its upcoming interactive broadband service in Hong Kong.

PCCW's [NYSE:PCW] Now.com.hk broadband service is due to launch in
mid-September.

Now.com.hk is a streaming media programming service targeted at broadband
subscribers to PCCW's ISP, Netvigator. Netvigator has over 200,000 broadband
subscribers, according to the company.

A first batch of content partners was announced this week, providing a range of
news, movies, music and online games to Now.com.hk.

News is to be provided by TVB.com Ltd; commercial radio broadcasts will be
offered by PCC Skyhorse Ltd; Chinese and Western movies will be distributed by
Mei Ah Entertainment (MATV Ltd) and Intertainer Asia Pte Ltd.; streaming music
and "infotainment" will be provided by HMV' Hong Kong music downloads by eolasia
Ltd; and online games will be delivered by Billybala iGame Ltd.

A Taiwanese partner ERA Communications Group is also likely to provide
multimedia content to Now.com.hk, the company added.
