This is a bogus argument. It's victimizing the innocent rather than punishing the guilty.

Sure, it's the easiest way for MSFT to accomplish its goal, but it's unethical and illegal, and therefore stupid.

Microsoft is the victim of corporate executives who either didn't listen to their lawyers or didn't ask their lawyers whether what they were doing was legal.

Two legal maxims come to mind:

1. If it seems too good to be true, it's probably not true.

2. Little pigs get fat, big pigs get slaughtered.
