Environmentalists are not motivated by profit but by love of God's earth. And by wanting future generations to have something left. I became an environmentalist because I watched in 30 years the lands I knew which were once green and bounteous shrink and get sub-divided into one big suburb. I've breathed polluted air, swam in sewage-infected waters, dived dead coral reefs, hiked through clear-cut forests. Nothing is as sad and morbid. I've also seen the pristine glory of the way the land is when left alone the way it's supposed to be. I've devoted time and money and love to the environmental movement and it's never hurt a soul and helped saved many living things. In the process I've worked with not only Democrats and green types but moderate Republicans. Environmental protection is a deep human value shared by the majority of Americans. And we as the greatest nation ought to be leading not following or setting a bad example. We should also defend the truth that THIS LAND IS OUR LAND their land (to pollutes, despoil, clear-cut, drill, pave over, or recklessly develope). And if those companies want to make money off our land they ought to follow strict rules and follow the laws so we can leave something to our children. Bush-Cheney are tryingy like hell and using outright lies to fool us into letting them dismantle those laws and lets the pollutors and pigs to the troughs of our lands and waters.

You may be a good person in many ways but you should be ashamed of yourself for attacking environmentalism or defending and supporting anyone who seeks to despoil our natural wonders simply out of greed and selfishness. You can make some money short-term despoiling but the damage lasts forever and cheats everyone else including the eco-system itself. It's like killing the Golden Goose. Environmentalism makes sense, helps the economy just as much as it restricts it and is in the long-term good of us all. Conservatives ought to re-think the meaning of that label. It should also mean conservations. Ask Teddy Roosevelt.
