Not at all, I am understanding John Kennedy, a bright educated catholic from liberal Massachusetts in initially depending on the "system" to provide "good" advice and then deciding that the advice was quite bad! He then depended on Bobby and himself, Bobby was a brilliant person and Jack knew it, and Bobby felt that they were being feed a ton on Bs and thus they embarked alone. The Navy cross piloting a PT boat has no correlation to understanding or deciding how much nuclear missile firepower is needed! And we as a country are still trying to get as far as John and Bobby were in the early sixties, it is quite a tragedy that we have spent 37 years spinning backward in time

BTW, Sputnik has nothing to do with missiles it was about establishing the high ground in space!

And yes the Republican Party is now determined to threaten the world with our military might and propagate isolationist policies
