Brian, The down and dirty answer is that 200mm has fallen off a cliff and technology buys will only help so much. I simply don't believe this has been properly reflected in SCE valuations yet and thus the group should trend lower over the near-term. Lam is a little more volatile than AMAT and offers a fairly reasonable opportunity to take advantage of the ups and downs presented during this period of uncertainty. (Besides, I'm currently holding an AMAT long position and I sometimes have difficulty shorting a stock I own <g> so I get around this by picking a similar stock in the sector. How's that for fooling oneself!)
