I don't see any irrational rejection. I think what you interpret as out of hand rejection is actually rejection based on very different life values. On the internet we meet people most of us would never meet and talk with in 3d. In 3d we self select for congeniality by going places where we are likely to meet people we will like. The internet is like the DMV only everyone, instead of standing quietly in line, is telling everyone else their core beliefs, and offering opinions on the core beliefs of others. It only takes an instant when you come up against someone who rejects everything you believe to be "good" and/or embraces everything you believe to be "evil" to dislike them.
