David, I was joking! Of course I am not a socialist!!! The take that Germany is a "socialist" country is, how can I say it, wrong. Of course here is a developed socialy system and stuff like environmental regulation but not socialism. Of course, socialism is no on/off thing, there are many degrees. But it is a common belief, even of the Social Democratic Government that even regulation should be done in a way that is maximal market compatible. Like imposing taxes on fuel to drive down demand and encourace car manufacturers to develop low consumption engines. Then, using a progressive income tax scheme it is tried to redistribute consumer income so that the rich get not so fast richer and that there is an equality of starting chances among all the young.
