What started me on this board idea was a basher from another message board. Although I value critical thinking, I do not like agendas, negative or positive.

The poster asked a simple question: Does INSP provide 2 Way SMS text messaging for Verizion?

As the board attempted to guess their way to an answer, I realized that many who I thought had a better understanding of INSP than I, in fact, did not.

So I emailed Verizion and INSP IR--no responses. I called Verizon, struck up a conversation with a published name and telephone number of a Verizon employee working at signing people up for the 2Way SMS service. She is an investor in INSP through her shares of G2NET. She did not have the answer. She email the question to another employee she said would have the answer. Days past and she had no response from her contact. She was heading on vacation and gave me a telephone number. Here is what happened:

I called Verizion @ 866-890-2357, went through the phone tree menu and spoke with Javier. (technical support and questions for mobile messages)

He was in the mobile messaging area. After discussing 2 way SMS, I asked Javier about INFOSPACE.

I wanted to know if INSP was the company that was providing the technology, he said NO.

Javier said INSP was the company that supplied Verizon with space on the web to display Verizon's web pages, "Like a server."

********
I posted this and another poster felt Javier was wrong. That poster came up with a link to a Wired News article written by Elisa Batista. Batista stated in black and white that INSP supplied 2 Way SMS to INSP.

I emailed Batisa and here is what she said:

Hi XXXXXX,
Thanks for writing. While InfoSpace provides added on services for two-way SMS systems abroad, it only provides WAP services to Verizon, Cingular and AT&T here in the States. So you are right, InfoSpace doesn't provide two way sms to Verizon, although Verizon is one of its clients.
I will change the article so it reflects that.
Thanks,
Elisa

Dear Elisa,

I read your June 11, 2001 article with interest as an Infospace investor.

I have been attempting through Verizon and Infospace to confirm Verizon's recent rollout of 2 Way SMS Text Messaging is a service provided by InfoSpace.

Just today, I contacted Verizon's mobile messaging dept. and was told InfoSpace WAS NOT providing that service.

Your article tells a different story.

Could you help me to figure out the true answer. (Messages left to both VZ and INSP IR departments have not been answered.)

Can you tell me the source of your information?

Thank you,

XXXXXXXXXXXX
