Anymore, there are only a few major brands in the store anyway, Compaq, HP, Sony. Notebooks: add Toshiba.

I guess some would eliminate E-machines but those still sell well...

Once they see the brands and know them, they start looking at Mhz and comparing. All they know is numbers...
Maybe the higher model numbers have higher Mhz chips but my experience is that MHz is their first comparison criteria.

Surprisingly, some have heard that the Athlon is the most powerful chip.
CD-RWs are all the rage here. Getting to be standard equipment.
