Lincoln had his son's body dug up twice so he "could see him one more time". As a youth he would disappear alone into the woods for 1 month every year for reasons unknown. He suffered extreme headaches, had terrible bouts with depression and did many other strange things including closing down newspapers which published unflattering editorials about him and suspended habeas corpus. He was essentially a tyrant. And perhaps deranged.
