I think the statement was true with the textile workers. Gradually they accepted the technology as inevitable. Now you say the unions want to push for protection from competition by forcing business to remain in country. Right or wrong, good or bad it is probably inevitable that business (steel, auto, clothing) will go out of country to remain competitive if that is their view. Sometimes they will be short-sighted about this.
