CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Akamai Technologies Inc. (AKAM) is expected to name Michael A.
Ruffolo to the newly created post of executive vice president of sales education, business
development and product marketing initiatives.

Ruffolo, 39 years old, comes to Akamai from computer storage-giant EMC Corp. (EMC), where
he held the position of executive vice president of global sales.

In an interview, Akamai president Paul Sagan said Ruffolo will be part of a senior management team
that's "going to help us transition from a startup to a large services company." Akamai is expected to
announce Ruffolo's appointment Tuesday.

(This story and related background will be available on the Journal's Web site, WSJ.com.)

Akamai, which provides technology that allows Web sites to speed up their performance, had
revenue of $89 million last year.

Prior to EMC, Ruffolo was president of the document solutions group at Xerox Corp. (XRX)
"Akamai is very focused on attracting large corporate clients," Sagan said. "Mike has a lot of
experience in that area."
