Logic? There is nothing logical about religion. It's an emotional and spiritual leap of faith. A personal choice. You believe in something even though it can never be proven. Meanwhile, almost all scientists who are the experts and can actually prove things agree fertilized eggs are not living creatures of any kind. Or at least no more so than any living cell splitting away. Potentially human maybe but in its present form no more human than a piece of your skin. It's the initial stage of life but it's not a being and it will probably never be one, for months anyway, especially if it's in a lab not a fertility clinic. That's logic. The other logic is that you can't stop it anyway, it's already totally legal in the UK and in the private sector so why get all upset about it? You'll just give yourself a migraine. And what if you had Parkinson's Disease? Would you turn down stem cell therapy? Or if your wife could be cured of Alzheimers? Or if you could go back and cure Ronald Reagan before he forgot who he was (starting his second term in office)? And what about Christopher Reeve? Wouldn't you want to help people in his condition? Or if you had a child with birth defects who could be cured? Countless examples of why it's human and moral to develop stem cell research. And Bush agrees too I'm sure, he just doesn't want to erode his support with the anti-scientific fundamentalists. That's a lot of votes. And I'm sure they don't all agree with his other policies.

Want another hot button issue? Legalization of marijuana.
Word is in Time that Canada's moving to legalize soon. Half of Europe already has. Can't stop that either. Sooner or later what makes sense (because the opposite doesn't work) just gradually happens. Aren't you glad we don't still have prohibition? Or that women can vote now? Or that pollution is illegal? No?
