Italian Women Too Busy
for Sex

Monday, Aug. 13, 2001

ROME (Reuters) - Italian
women work longer hours
than any other women in
Europe, according to a
new survey -- such long
hours, in fact, that they
hardly have time for sex.

The average Italian woman
is busy for 10 or 11 hours
a day, versus 9-10 hours in
Germany, France, Portugal
and Spain, and a relatively
easy-going 7-8 hours in
Sweden and Finland,
according to the survey by
Rome's Ipsa Institute.

Italian women not only
spend at least eight hours a day at work, they do around 90 minutes of
housework, are busy cooking for a further half-hour and dedicate at least
20 minutes each day to exercise or "grooming."

All that work leaves little time for play, particularly of the bedroom variety.

According to the survey, the average Italian woman has just one hour of
sex every 15 days.

It showed that Italian men do less housework than men in any other
European country -- just 15 minutes a day.

The result? Italian women are watching more television and nearly 40
percent of superworkers say they are unhappy in their marriages.
