Like I said, this debate will continue for our lifetimes.
As for scientists never being able to figure out the point where an embryo "becomes human" I think they already have. You can see it with your own eyes. It's the point where the brain starts functioning if only on a most primitive level. Before that we are not much different from other creatures and our embryos ressemble a host of other nascent life-forms. But nomatter what proof science offer there will be many who don't believe it or dismiss it anyway. Until some point in the far future this will continue to be a divisive controversy. That's why politicians hate to even talk about it. It's a shame there are many people who vote strictly on this issue But they do. There are so many bigger issues which politicians can actually work on and change.

Roe V. Wade is not going to be done away with (or the GOP is commiting political suicide), stem cell research will accelerate no matter what our government does and human evolution continues at a rapid rate right or wrong being only a matter of speculative opinion.

What I'm more concerned about are the issues of campaign finance reform, environment-pollution, the economy and fiscal conservatism. Make our system much less corrupt, keep the air and water relatively clean, don't give away our surplus in tax breaks to the oil businesss and the very rich and get this economy moving again. I think most people would agree. Unfortunately for Rpeublicans this means defeating their current agenda, at least replacing it with someone like McCain's.
