I have read both of Manchester's Churchill biographies and they are magnificent. I have read "American Caesar", his biography of Douglas MacArthur, three times. These three books are on a par with Robert Caro's two volumes on Lyndon Johnson and David McCullough's "Truman." Manchester also wrote a book entitled "Goodbye, Darkness", a memoir of his WWII experiences island hopping in the South Pacific. One of the best accounts of war from the viewpoint of the average grunt that I have ever read. Interestingly enough, Manchester later noted (to much criticism) that portions of "Goodbye, Darkness" were fictionalized.
