You may be too young to remember a book called "Open Marriage" published in the early 70s...Seems like they expressed similar sentiments with unfortunate results. Do you think we are monogamous (at least sequentially) by nature or because of culture?

I have to laugh thinking of my mother and her bridge club, all of whom were widows and quite content with their no longer married lot. They felt they had done their duty to God and Family and no way would they take on another man. In fact, only one of the group ever dated and remarried, and while disapproving, they excused her because they believed she was unbalanced- or perhaps a nymphomaniac. I think of them as sort Steel Magnolia Amazons-- and I wonder at times why all their husbands died at such young ages....
