Something pretty cool happened to me today.
I got a kiss from Mother Nature.
I'm not sure why.
Was it because I decided not to fertilize my lawn with that insect control stuff that The Scotts Company has been pushing? Besides, I was too busy or too lazy to fertilize my lawn this year...
Was it because I took a paper bag instead of a plastic bag at the super market?
I have trouble opening up the plastic bags sometimes so I prefer paper.
Was it because I used to feed the birds with two feeders in my back yard?
I would get back my money's worth in the form of payment of bird whistle sounds and the relaxation of being able to watch them jockey for position on each rung of the feeder.

Can't quite figure it out...

Here's what happened.
I pulled into the Mobil gas station that I recently started patronizing.
I waved my new Speed Pass at the blue box, like I was supposed to.
It took a few tries but then finally Pegasus lit up red telling me to select the grade of gas and proceed to dispense the fuel.
I'm hangin' out watching the LED's running up the price and gallons while wondering if the penny LEDS that move the fastest, actually go through each and every single digit from 0-9. Someday I'll bring a super high speed camera and find out the answer to that baffling mystery... <g>
Suddenly something caught my eye from over the plastic price signs stuck to the top of the dispenser.
It was a fairly large orange and black butterfly.
I've seen millions of them and never thought much about them.
Ususally I don't get to see them up close for very long.
This one was 20 feet away randomly floating around a green Toyota Camry.
I attempted to communicate to it using my powerful ESP ability. <g>
I said to it silently, "Come here little butterfly." <ng>
Amazingly it began flying to front of my Dodge minivan.
It wobbled up and down, left and right investigation my headlights and grill.
I sent more of my mental telepathy it's way. "Come here and land on me. I won't hurt you."
I began to freak out when it began flying in my direction.
It sort of stared at my hat with the first quick fly by.
Doubling back it looked at my Navy Blue NY Yankees tee shirt.
It probably thought to itself that this dude could afford to lay off the beer once again as it floated around my equator.
Then it got very close to my knee cap.
It closed in and lowed it's flaps two notches along with it's landing gear and continued it's approach.
Touchdown!
The colorful little bugger landed on my knee and studied the surface of my faded blue Lee denim carpenter pants.
That's when she kissed me.
Then it quickly took a leap over to the other nearly shaking left knee and lowed it's head again and kissed me once more.
"Way too cool" I said to myself in the same voice I used to call her over.
I studied all the fancy yellow and black spots and designs.
What a work of art.
Must have taken some time to finish that paint job...
Then she suddenly waved at me and took off.
I thought I saw her smile as she left.
I know I sure did smile. Ear to ear.

I'm not quite sure I know why Mother Nature sent one of her angels over to deliver a kiss.
Maybe it's because she knew I would appreciate it.

P.S. Now I gotta get my book of good deeds and figure out which one I have to do in return for someone tomorrow.
The dude with the squeegie is gonna like seeing me in the afternoon... <g>

Definitely need to clean out those bird feeders and get them filled once again.
