Hey John - your guess is as good as mine on the effect of a weakening dollar on foreign investment. I'm a total amateur on this issue. That said, I recall that there were a number of voices - Lawrence Kudlow's among them - calling for a weaker dollar, and suggesting that a stagnant, deflationary environment was harming efforts to get the US and global economy moving again. Normally, an interest rate easing campaign would have started to weaken the dollar much earlier and much more extensively. Gold and other commodities would also be rising - instead, they've mostly been languishing. I believe that the stronger Euro may also give the European Central Bank more room to ease later this month, which might in turn help shore up the dollar.
