Why should you be sorry?

This is very hard to read, but necessary.

I admit I skimmed much of it -- too much horror to read calmly as I sit in my comfortable home looking out on a peaceful forest and ocean with the assurance that if trouble comes my friends the sheriff and doctor will come to my rescue and aid.

What I didn't see in the articles, maybe because I skimmed over it, is the US role in all this, whether we are sending aid to Zimbabwe and South Africa, or even selling them arms. Not that it sounds as though they need to buy arms -- plastic, tires, gasoline, and chains are pretty low tech, but very awful. But it's hard to know what to do, what sort of aid can be offered from where we sit.
