IBM's AMD products have been in its retail line, and IBM has left the retail market.

IBM's divisions are autonomous - the disk drive division sells to Compaq, Dell, etc. and the PC division buys from Western Digital and Seagate.

This isn't great news for AMD, but has nothing to do with SOI being good or bad, it basically reflects IBM Canada joining IBM USA in exiting the retail market.
