Charles Gryba:

"I am making the assumption that Intel will price the P4 low enought to sell all of them. That price will most definitely not be below cost. There will be no cost write-offs. What I am saying is that at $100 they are killing the Athlon but they are not losing money. Their other divisions might but not their processor division."

Again: Is $100 low enough and can INTC sell enough P4's at $100 to offset P4 fixed costs over time? I'm just not as convinced of the certainty of a successful P4 outcome as most, I guess!
Again, price/performance is irrelevant. The only people who care are enthusiasts/hobbyists and they only make a small percentage of the market. Price and branding are the only things that matter and the proof is the celery. To give an example, our CIO ( large company ) has 2 athlons at home and he loves them but we're still buying Dell P3's at work?
Why?
