What crazies? You mean the salmon stock and Bald Eagle nestings in Klamath? Hey, when there's a drought farmers suffer. It's the drought's fault not some "crazies". By the way, even if you don't care about salmon and eagles (and I'm sure you do) those programs are very sensitive and expensive to build. To see them wiped out by a drought would be tragic. Just an isolated case of two interests (mand and wildlife) which both need the same water. The farmers need is to make money one year. The wildlife needs it to live or die. Tough issue for which there is no easy solution. The history of water rights in the West has always been throny, tragic and vicious. With Bush in office, expect the eagles and salmon to get the short end of the stick. The farmers I feel for but we have an over abundance of food in this country much of which goes to waste. Those crops are replaceable. The salmon and eagles I'm not so sure about. Just to give your argument balance.
Trust me there are no "crazies' involved. Maybe some of the farmers are "crazy" too. Try not using words like that and you'll get a better picture. Disclaimer - I haven't studied this issue just read a few blurbs.
