I respectfully submit you dont understand how demand may not respond to lower interest rates

debt is staggering
capacity is overflowing
regulators are screwing up competition and reward systems
Y2K sucked out two years worth of demand

and now we wait for the digestion process to happen
it will take time

if lower interest rates didnt produce recovery in Japan following the Mother of All Bubbles, why do you expect lower rates to magically produce KneeJerk Demand ???

sure, we are not Japan, but some problems are in common
we do allow death to walking dead companies
but plenty of other problems we share

you seem to fall prey to the same trap that our govt does
USING A BLUNT INTEREST RATE INSTRUMENT TO DEAL WITH ALL PROBLEMS

need a screw tightened? use a hammer
need a door fixed? use a hammer
need to replace a window? use a hammer
need an oil change? use a hammer

the problem has many many fixes needed
- fix competition in the telecom sector
- speed up capital depreciation
- deny home equity loans for stock accounts, third homes, second motorboats, extra jewelry (not in this country)
- end welfare
- cut Congressional pensions
- cut Judicial pensions
- cut Military pensions
- disband the inept Federal Trade Commission (redefine trust)
- break up Microsoft
- subsidize broadband rollout
- seize Arab holdings in US banks

or just try another 2-3 above strictures
