I think you got everything backwards. It is a synthetic
benchmark like Sandra stream where a P4 could be considered
to be "much faster". Let me remind you that real
software packages, the ones that cost $20-50++k and above,
do not have a luxury to be re-writed and recompiled for
every change in CPU microarchitecture. It is not like
the toy benchmarks. I was told recently that on design
tools like Verilog compiles and FPGA synthesis, the
i850 P4-1400 with RDRAM is performing below P-III-800
with PC-133 SDRAM.
