both intel and amd should optimize their actions so it would benefit their respective shareholders.
Once amd decided (right or wrong) to go with mpu business they need a minimum market share to stay in business - as intelabees would say - economy of scale.
If it is in the best interest for intel to flood the market then they should do so but for some reason I doubt that that would be in the best interest of shareholders.
re: Are you suggesting that Intel should create an artificial shortage of processors, that AMD can supply?
interesting way to describe the equilibrium that all companies should try to achieve :-)) It's optimization problem
