Hey folks, the internet is just beginning and their will be two to three companies in each sector (i.e., hardware and software) that survive this economic slump.

ORCL and SAP are doing fine on the profit side as is MSFT. Well MSFT is a monopoly so I do not know how you can include them in this picture. All three companies will survive and grow steadily for years to come.

On the hardware side, after reading Barron's over the weekend, things to not look that good for HWP. CPQ has the PC noose around its neck so they will be dragged down with the other pc manufactures in a price war of the ages. IBM is well balanced and will certainly survive. So, I believe that SUNW and IBM will provide the hardware for the internet.

Storage IMO is up for grabs. EMC is a one product company and is facing some tough challenges from the top and bottom.

I have bet everything i own on the internet infrastructure and the companies that should be the survivors to build it out over a loooong period of time. This market is causing me anxiety but as Andy Grove of Intel has said, "all recessions end". When is the big question?
rocky.
