Albert,

re: I, OTOH, think that amd can not survive with 5% market share and hence intel should consider either killing amd completely (which is perfectly fine) or allowing it to have its market share... Now you tell me what intel is doing

The goal is to sell stuff. AMD sells the same stuff. The market is somewhat elastic, but ultimately finite. If Intel sells more stuff, by necessity, AMD sell less stuff.

You are taking this way too personally. It's just a couple of companies competing against each other. It's happening all across the technology economy, companies are scrambling to get a bigger piece of a smaller pie. EMC has said they will not lose a deal on price, so has their competition. Everyone is being squeezed by shrinking demand.

Intel is being slightly more aggresive with prices, because it can. It has the high end PC market, it has the server market, and most of the notebook market. If not for the idiotic "other businesses" they could really be aggressive. They are hustling for market share not to kill AMD, but to make Intel stronger. That's what all companies do. If it hurts the competition, so much the better.

If Jerry had it in his power to deal Intel a death blow, do you think he would push the button? You bet he would, without a second thought.

John
