You and American are probably unaware that it takes from 50 to 100 years to grow a forest for wood products. It takes real courage and foresight and those of us who dedicate our lives to it are not going to see our forests come into their own. But your children will, and they will bless us.

See, your old growth forests have their benefits, but growing new wood is not one of them. New plantations grow wood four to five times as fast. Old growth forests are slowly going down hill, and sooner or later will rot more than they grow every year. Some day a windstorm or fire will come along and do what you refuse to acknowledge is a legitimate use of some forests. I've seen it happen many times, and it will happen more and more often now since you have been so successful. Letting the highest quality wood fall down and rot is OK some of the time, but unless you plan to live in a tent it is NOT OK all of the time.
