M A R K E T .. S N A P S H O T -- Stocks to come under more pressure

NEW YORK (CBS.MW) -- Stock prices are likely to come under more selling pressure Thursday as earnings jitters work to keep buyers at bay.

September S&P 500 futures gave up 3.80 points, or 0.3 percent, and were trading about 4.10 points below fair value, according to HL Camp & Co. And Nasdaq futures lost 8.00 points, or 0.5 percent.

Over in the government bond arena, the 10-year Treasury note was up 7/32 to yield ($TNX) 4.975 percent while the 30-year government bond added 5/32 to yield ($TYX) 5.505 percent.

Thursday will see a smattering of economic releases: weekly initial claims; the July consumer price index, seen declining 0.1 percent overall and rising 0.2 percent at the core; July housing starts, expected at a 1.62 million rate, as well as building permits; the Philly Fed Index for August, expected to come in at negative 7.1. and economic calendar and forecasts.

The dollar traded mixed after collapsing over the past couple of trading sessions. The greenback added 0.1 percent to 119.61 yen while the euro edged up 0.3 percent to 91.7 cents.
