I remember reading about American football in England in the '80's , the story was there was a weekly NFL game replay shown in an hour time slot that built up a following. Then the NFL started playing a yearly exhibition game in London, and the English were somewhat astounded to see how slow the game was in real time. It's a great TV sport, though, you don't have to watch too closely because everything good gets replayed 6 times or so.

There is a NFL European farm league now, though it's down to 6 teams, 1 in Scotland. The Scottish Claymores, what an odd name, isn't Claymore a land mine? The European league started out as the World League of American Football, but it apparently underwent some downsizing. See nfleurope.com and geocities.com
