Thus the only subsidy to the broad rail system of the US is the minimal rail usage fees paid by AMTRAC.

Yes, their non passenger rail subsidy has been cut by %60, but why should the US timber companies(From CA & WA to MA & NY) compete against C$170- million-a-year subsidy in transportation + "In Canada, there were basically two transcontinental railways serving almost the entire country from coast to coast, the largest of which is still owned by the government of Canada".

Supporting a tariff to assure an even break for our timber industry in light of these (& other)Canadian timber subsidy makes no one a "bigot", it rather makes them only fair.
