<<<Back to your initial question, it's up to you whether you think trying unjustly to get somebody banned on SI is a personal injury or not. >>>

The 'unjustly' in there may or may not be a fair characterization of what happened, i am unfamiliar with the incident. Often two parties to a dispute see what's just differently.

Yes, banning someone from an SI thread may be doing them personal injury, by my lights. In this peculiar world, which is real enough that we bother with it. JLA banned me from his thread, after a last nasty, unanswerable, crack. Did he do me personal injury? I'd say the banning was an injury of sorts, but a justifiable one (it's his clubhouse, and RW); the crack was unjustifiable (and neatly defining; JLA often makes points other than the ones he intends, I note.)

Whether trying to get me banned, and not succeeding, would have been doing me a personal injury is a different matter. I'd say that if, in trying to come up with a "personal injury" someone did to me, what I came up with was an unsuccessful attempt, once, to get me banned from a specific thread, then the "personal injury" total is teeny. (I know you haven't said it was large.)

I've never tried to get anyone banned from any thread, or from SI, either. Or even put anyone on ignore!
