Constantine, Re: "I really don't care for all the benchmarks on the web since the reviewers are very unreliable and rarely match each other's results."

Understood. But I hope you realize that my motivation for posting the link wasn't to prove that these benchmarks were better than any of the others that exist. I am trying to say two things.

1) The Pentium 4 is scaling well, and each successive release makes it much more competitive with respect to the competition.

2) More software has become available which can take advantage of the strengths of the newer micro-architecture, and older reviews do not take this into account.

For all those people predicting that the market doesn't want the Pentium 4 because it is a dog (not the regulars here who will never change their minds, but rather the silent readers that use our advice to make good investment decisions), they should realize that their mind set is terribly out of date. The Pentium 4 failed in the first quarter this year because it was much more expensive than other options, and it didn't perform quite as well as the less expensive options that were available. The two things that have changed include the price, which is soon to bring the Pentium 4 down to $800 system price points, and the performance, which is achieved through newer software and higher frequencies. It's not the same situation it was 6 months ago, and it's only likely to improve.

P.S. My screen name was thought up because of lack of a better name. I like BMW, but I also like Audi and Mercedes. Which BMW cars have you owned before?
