JH, I think any progress Toshiba makes in its NAND controllers...

...will be achieved in partnership SanDisk.

My outsider's view of the technology is that the flash memory structure
dictates controller construction. And future pricing will probably be more
dependent on flash cost structure than controller costs.

Regarding write performance, I still believe the average consumer gravitates
more to cost than performance issues. That may be good or bad for SNDK. My
current digital camera, a Canon G1, also has an on-board memory buffer that
boosts overall performance and have not noticed any appreciable difference
with various cards I have purchased. Hopefully this innovation will
be included on future models of digital cameras across a broad price range.
