Good exchange Claude and Bob! IMO, if there is nothing of economic importance, it matters not if ply goes it alone or does a deal. If there is a whopper and the first few drill holes hit, it is obvious that ply going it alone would be the much better option for us.

The tougher call is if they get strong smells but no bonanza on the initial program. If ply does not have the cash, going it alone is a p poor deal. We all know that majors have more access to cash, but I suggest another facet. The people responsible for the decisions by the major (or respon. for the recommendation to higher ups) often suffer from the turtle syndrome and are afraid to stick their necks out. I have seen this happen when inconclusive survey after survey are ordered up instead of biting the bullet and drilling. I have also seen situations where inconclusive drill results are not followed up because someone is afraid to recommend additional expenditures on what may be a dog.

I look at ply as having found a great drill target. They have been successful thus far, and I congratulate them on that. If they go ahead and drill and come up empty, I will lose some money, but I think I would continue to hold the management in high esteem and would want to participate in their next venture. Somewhat like Bob, I see this as the proper role for juniors, and strongly support an aggressive management who are not too chickens*** to test their own beliefs, and put the drill bit to it!
