I believe this is but one problem that keeps Java from being considered ready for prime time. As WIND waits impatiently for an official fix (which is probably in place by now, as far as I know), I believe these delicate technical difficulties, which ultimately fall back on Sun's shoulders, may be behind some of competitors claims about being first out of the block with Java. This is why I think they are all dead set on getting into the Java game, but the game itself may be subject to rain delays.

True enough. Sun has danced around with so many tentative offerings (JDK, JVM, JavaOS, etc) that I admit to being casual about references to JavaOS. Personally, I stopped making distinctions when Sun shifted everything to JavaSoft and began renaming everything, and I realized that more changes were to come.
