When tundra thaws it is lichens, wild-flowers etc and very fragile eco-system. Has been undisturbed for millennae but Bush wants to send the bulldozers in and has totally exaggerated the amount of oil reserves beneath this area.
They will say or do whatever it takes to get the right to go in their and plunder. In the long run it won't help us at all and will befoul one of God's greatest creations. Not even an African country would allow this sort of thing but Bush-Cheney only care about making their oil companies cronies fat. They will even have us pay for the "exploration" by granting Big Oil 33 billion in tax breaks. Thievery pure and simple.
